It’s the school summer holidays and we are back in the late 60s early 70s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’d be up and out early doors maybe off down the ‘Divvy'(river derwent’) for a bit plodging or maybe down the local wood building a tree camp\/den or a rope swing just you and your mates,not a care in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’d be there all day till the sun started setting then track back home and do it all again countless times over the holidays..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another fun day was going to the local tip old stoney heap for me and finding a set of pram wheels to make a boogie and then chancing your luck going down willow crescent hill or the hill on borrowdale est,both hills,(these were actually roads) also both good for sledging in the winter the only problem on willow cres hill was you hoped and prayed you would stop <\/p>\n\n\n\n

before you hit the farmers gate at the bottom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those reading this please add your memories for as we all know the internet forgets nothing and this is a insight for future generations\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also can recommend the book by Andrew Clark North East Life in the 1930’s, 40’s 50;s for similar memories <\/p>\n\n\n\n
