From Leadgate Resident
I’m sitting out in my garden on this lovely autumnal evening with my fire pit embers glowing in the dark and I’ve just made toast on it.
Who can remember as a kid been at your grandparents and the toasting fork suddenly appeared and they started to do toast or crumpets on the open fire, the butter dish sitting on the hearth so the butter would soften.
It wasn’t a worry if some times they were over done it added to the flavour.
Talking of open fires I was always on fire watch as sometimes the sparks or bits of embers would jump out and land on the fire side rug.
If Bernie reads this I hope he can do one of his wonderful sketches to illustrate the above.
